USB over Fiber

USB is short for Universal Serial Bus. The word “Universal” has its greatest characteristics. In January 1996, the USB 1.0 specification was released, with 1.5Mbps and 12Mbps transmission rates; in 1998, the USB 1.1 specification was released, and the transmission rate was uniformly set at 12Mbps; in April 2000, the USB 2.0 specification was released, which is still the mainstream in quantity, and its transmission rate has been greatly increased to 480Mbps compared with the 1.0 and 1.1 versions; in November 2008, the USB 3.0 standard was released, with a transmission rate of 5Gbps.

USB 3.0 Interface

  • The most common interface of USB 3.0 is Type-A.
  • As another common interface, Type-C supports forward and backward interpolation.
  • The Type-B interface is mainly used for printers.
  • Micro Type-B is mainly used for mobile phones and other small devices, such as mobile hard drives.

The Details of USB 3.0 Type-A

There are four metal antennas on the USB 2.0 interface, one is grounded, the other is responsible for Vbus, D+ and D- are responsible for data transmission, while the USB 3.0 is increased to 9. In order to maintain compatibility, the front four pieces remain unchanged, only five more in the back of the interface.

USB 2.0 is half-duplex mode, and USB 3.0 channel is full-duplex mode.

Tips: TYfiber USB 3.0/3.1 AOC products are only compatible with USB 3.0.

The Applications of USB 3.0 Interface

Disk boxes and disk arrays with USB 3.0 interface; HD cameras support USB 3.0, interface 5Gbps transmission rate supports 30 frames per second, transmission resolution 1920*1080 uncompressed high-definition video streams; new computer motherboards provide USB 3.0 interface, and new laptops provide USB 3.0 interface.

TYfiber USB 3.0 Hub

Weight: 180g

The most intuitive function is to expand the number of USB interfaces, with the use of TYfiber USB 3.0/3.1 AOC is to increase the transmission distance of USB data.

The upstream port has power supply function, so it can be used with TYfiber USB 3.0/3.1 AOC which has no difference between source and sink.

With peripherals, TYfiber USB 3.0 hub has direct power supply capacity, with Port-1/2/3 power supply capacity of 4.5W and Port-4 power supply capacity of 7.5W.

TYfiber USB 3.0 hub is driver-free, and there is no sequence restriction of plug-in and pull-out in system construction.

The compatibility of devices such as USB hub with consumer electronics is a major issue. Some peripherals on USB hub with AOC system may work abnormally or not be able to use the situation, this is difficult to accurately list, after all, tens of millions of electronic devices in the world. Some new and rare peripherals need to pay attention to this point. When USB hub has multiple peripherals working at the same time or full load, the bandwidth of the upstream port will be allocated, and then the transmission rate of each device will decrease. It can be understood that there is a competition relationship, and the transmission rate competition is the most serious when full load occurs.

Notes for the Use of USB 3.0/3.1 AOC

  • 1. The system can only support USB 3.0, and the USB 2.0 devices can not work in any location of the interconnection system.
  • 2. The USB 2.0 terminal cannot be supported.
  • 3. At present, AOC products must use USB 3.0 Hub to connect with other USB 3.0 peripherals.
